Finally after a month's wait, the black ceiling fan is installed! The living, dining and corridor is finished with black skirting matched with a low storage bench and tv console finished in the same colour. All the carpentry is tucked to one side of the wall to keep the space clean and spacious. The linear bench can be used for seating (dining) and doubles up as a storage compartment.

Reno@Sunshine Court - Kitchen Carpentry details

 

For our reno at Sunshine court, the kitchen is kept white and simple with clean horizontal lines.  One look across, you only see horizontal lines across the entire kitchen, but it's not all drawers...we have swing doors too.

Usually for kitchen sinks, we don't recommend drawers under the sink because of the sink's bottle trap which will cause any drawers to be more shallow and you will actually loose storage space. Not only that, if you need to maintain the bottle trap, you will need to know how to dislodge the drawers out for the plumber to gain access to do maintenance.

 Looks like drawers but actually it's a swing door!

 With the swing door open, you can see how deep the sink and the bottle trap and water outlet.

 on the stove counter, there's a swing door at the far end which also looks like a drawer!

Last but not least, a full height cupboard with open shelves and pull out drawers for more kitchen items.

Reno@Sunshine Court - Shoe Cabinet Carpentry details

The entrance foyer is defined by a new wood flooring and full height shoe cabinet. The existing DB box is hidden behind a pair of mirror doors that reflects lights from the kitchen and make the entrance foyer looks much bigger and brighter.

Entrance door in the middle, mirror doors on the far right and 2 panel white doors on the left. Guess what is it? Yup! More storage and an umbrella compartment next to the main entrance.

The couple has requested for a closed kitchen, so we added a glass sliding door on the outside. Where the sliding door meets is another hidden cupboard space! Looks like a wall right?

Above: see! it's a full height cupboard just outside of the kitchen. The current BTO kitchen size is very compact, so this is an extension of the kitchen. Think of it like a dry pantry area, near to kitchen and near to the TV, snacks are within easy reach!

In case you are wondering, usually we will use these metal tracks for shoe cabinets so that the shelves are adjustable because shoes come in so many different heights!

Reno@Sunshine Court - After rectification works

Hello folks!
It's mid week and we are here to check out some rectification works to the carpentry. We had some miscommunication with our carpenter for the bedhead laminate. Because the bedhead had to fit 2 side tables and a king size bed, for the laminate to run horizontally, we will need to join to laminate pieces together and will end up with a groove line. To save time, our carpenter went ahead and did it vertically (wood grains) so that the groove line will not be so obvious. After it was done, the electrical fittings did not fit above the side tables as there were too many to lay them in a row. So our dear carpenter had to relay the laminate again. So this time the home owners wanted to make things right since we are going to relay.

So after a few weeks of decision making, the home owners found another laminate which can run horizontally and was long enough to fit the bedhead. And our carpenter was willing to change and re-laminate the whole bedhead even though he already ordered and done the previous laminate horizontally.

i think making the home owners happy and satisfied is more important for us and our carpenter and yup, we really want to make things right where possible!

Another rectification work on the internal configuration of the wardrobe. Previously some of the drawers were done too thick and hence too high for home owner to reach. The solution was to remove some of the drawers and to bring the whole set down so that it's within reach.

The rest of the photos are just to share with everyone as an update since it's been quite some time we have posted any photos of our home reno. The tv console is finished in a black matt laminate, very similar to our reno in Yishun Riverwalk.

 All the kitchen carpentry are finished in a white laminate with coloured internal PVC.

ceiling fan is scheduled to install next week as the ETA took about 1 month.
