Stirling HDB Terrace - #136 ACCENT

COLOURS ON WALLS
Dulux colour consultant was in today to advise us on the type of paint and colour for our new place. And it got me thinking about Accent Walls.

???...hmmm???

An accent wall is one wall within a single room that is markedly different and more interesting than the other walls in the room. Be it painted or wallpapered. It's just different!

Accent Wall Basics

  • The accent wall is usually the first wall that you see when entering a room.
  • It can help to anchor or define a separate area within a larger space. For example, within a large, open-plan house, an accent wall can define a smaller area as being a reading area.
  • The accent wall highlights a large focal point on or near that wall: TV, entertainment center, bed, fireplace, bookcase. Accent walls are rarely found floating around on their own.
  • In most cases, an accent wall is a bold color (e.g., orange) against neutral walls (e.g., white). However...
  • Another version of the accent wall is a vibrant shade against other walls of the same shade. For example, a rich orange against other, very pale orange walls.
  • An accent wall doesn't mean you throw color coordination out the window.
  • Don't forget that wallpaper and tile can also make an accent wall, not just paint.
here are some of my inspirations!

btw, love the lamp, looks like a cowboy who just finished shooting someone!

Stirling HDB Terrace - #143 MOVING IN!

some process photos of my guys moving in our stuff!

Stirling HDB Terrace - #142 Staircase Updates

Stairway to Heaven
or rather to my master room. Finally the timber has been laid on the staircase thread. Nice big planks of wood.

Here's a worker sweeping our stairway. It's really dusty in here.

And the glass railing are of a different colour for the 2 panels!!!! Even Uncle William 'also cannot take it '. He told the sub-con to change the entire 2 panels. So i had glass railings and now i don't.

more zoom-in(s) on the glass railing.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #141 Dulux is HERE

COLOUR CONSULTANT
Many thanks to all you supporters out there who has voted for me during the Dulux Facebook Competition!!!

and Dulux is sending their Colour Consultant to advise us on the types and colours for our new home. Kartini was here on Saturday morning. We quickly give her a quick tour of the place.

After a long discussion, plus browsing through the catalogue which she brought for us too, we finally settled on quite a few stuff. We'll be having 4 accent walls in total. One in the guest room, kitchen, family area and study area.

Mould-guard paint for the toilet and kitchen ceilings. A sealer before the base paint to go for all the walls.

notes taken by Kartini and the colour catalogue which she brought for us.
