Stirling HDB Terrace - #212 Granite Vanity Top

We've decided to do a granite vanity top for our master toilet. Would really love to do a marble top but CLASSIC doesn't do marble, sigh...in the end, short of time and we are quite tired of all the coordinating work, we decided to leave it to CLASSIC to do our master vanity and we got granite instead. We could have found another carpenter, but i guess we are quite tired to search for every bargain in singapore...and to coordinate a stone supplier with another carpenter + plumber + electrician for the vanity lights. PHEW!

Anyway, after googling on the advantages of Granite...i've consoled myself that granite can be a good choice too.

Granite is an a type of real rock called igneous rock, which means it was once molten and it formed as it cooled deep within the earth. Different minerals within granite typically appear as small specks and flecks throughout the stone, creating the salt and pepper look. Other types of granite may have veining similar to marble. Granite is extremely hard and durable, and is practically scratchproof. It can be highly polished and shiny or finished in a variety of other ways. Granite countertops are easily cleaned because of its low porosity.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #210 Yet another trip to Classic

He says that this was the last time. Told us to come at 1230pm.
Called us at 12pm to say want to change to 6pm. Fine. We are nice people. Okay we shall work our time around his. Now i can't have dinner with my parents.

6pm. We were there and he texted us to say to come at 630pm-7pm.
Fine. I can go for dinner first. Again, we are patient people.

645pm: we walked into the shop. And he was sketching furiously. HMPH. obviously someone hasn't been doing his work. He tells us to take a seat. Fine.

7pm: Started our design sessions.
930pm: Ended our session. Said to come in tomorrow to pay the 60% deposit. I'm quite fed-up with them really. Not just with the salesperson but also with the company policy.

In between 7pm-930pm: We had to confirm our laminate again, counter-top surface again, door handles again, size of wardrobe still NOT UPDATED, confirm our counter-top edge finish again.
ALL FOR THE THIRD TIME.

plus they were supposed to install end of july.
THIS IS ALREADY THE 2nd WEEK of AUGUST.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #209 Another trip at Classic Furniture

this trip took us 3 hours again.
Dunno why, but every time our design sessions with our wardrobe/cupboards peeps take really long...and it's draining my weekend hours away. So sad rite. Not that i do not want to spend time on my reno. But half a day at Classics on my precious weekend is really hard to bear.
I NEVER WANT TO DEAL WITH CLASSIC FURNITURE ANYMORE!

Here's what we have decided.

a selection of door handles for our cupboards in the kitchen.

We are going for Cheaper Cresto option instead of Corian. Will have to be extra careful as I've heard quite a few complaints about Cresto and having stains just from coffee, tea and even plastic bags like Gardenia bread, 7-11 bags and NTUC bags!!! And they(CLASSIC) didn't even tell me this sort of maintenance issues when they offered me this...had to find out online!!!

And this was my second time telling CLASSIC that I'm going for this cresto colour, going for this kind of edge finish.

Here's a sample of the cresto which we have chosen. (2nd time too, what a waste of time)

Sketches on our wardrobe and kitchen. Still wrong when I specifically told him the clear dimensions which i needed for my wardrobe partitions.

more sketching on the spot and a book of laminates for us to choose our wardrobe colour. (2nd time choosing again, I don't understand them, I've already chosen my colour and type, why do i need to choose AGAIN??!!! It's not that I wanted to change my mind or something.)

service and rates: I think the person in charge of our project is very patient and helpful. (the only good point)

However, the downside is everything at Classic is VERY CHARGEABLE. They wouldn't go the extra mile of providing anything extra. Take for instance, our tallboy (built-in microwave and oven cupboard) has this little space under the oven which couldn't be used for a swing-open cupboard as it's really quite shallow. Obviously Classic told us to put a drawer instead. BUT !!! at an extra charge! What is this! I mean they are already charging me everything per foot run from the top cabinet to the bottom cabinet, sides of the cupboards they are also charging!!! This little drawer they also wanted me to pay extra!!!

Next item: I have a breakfast counter which I'm already paying per foot run for the top, sides on all 4 sides and they wanted to charge me per foot run for putting 3 swing doors!!! WHAT IS THIS!!! If my kitchen cabinet were charged per foot run with swing door cabinets, WHY ON EARTH my breakfast top which I'm already paying per foot run, they are charging me EXTRA for the swing doors!!! I WAS SO F***king pissed with the guy. I know it isn't his fault as this is "COMPANY POLICY" but WTH.

horrible policy.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #208 Growth!

Stirling HDB Terrace - #207 Gardening

"starting our little nursery"
well we have been keeping ourselves busy over the long weekend. Besides watching National day parade on tv, we also got our hands and fingers dirtied at our little corner garden patch, which wj calls it his flower patch. Although i do not think it's a flower patch yet, far from it actually. It looks more of a green patch.

we bought a rake from Far East Flora to sweep up all the leaves cos the cleaner isn't really good at his job. So might as well assist him a little bit. We also purchased some plants from Far East Flora too...

we bought 2 pots of Song of India, 2 pots of Graptophyllum, 4 small plastic bags of green shrubs. Not sure what species are they, but they look kinda furry and cute. Plus 2 medium size pots of shrubs that has tiny white flowers, think they are called False Heather (cuphea hyssopifolia).

our gardening tools. realised that we need a SPADE to do all the hard work!!!
A shovel wasn't good enough to dig the earth out. Luckily our neighbour had a crowbar so daddy used it to loosen the earth around our area so that we could shovel some earth out to re-pot the plants.

wj raking in the leaves on the top soil before he starts his digging.

here's how they look after planting them outside our window area. While we were re-potting, mum was busying herself with her new toy - rake. So you see, all the leaves were neatly swept into a pile for the cleaner to come and clear tomorrow.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #204 my bamboo is propagating itself!!!

YAY!!! my bamboo is growing another new shoot and i only found out today!!!

I'M SO HAPPY!!!!
