One thing which we find quite useful is top hung windows. It's those longitudinal windows you see at the top of this photo above. When it rains heavily and you need to close all the windows to prevent rainwater from coming in, these top hung windows are pretty useful for ventilating the room because it helps to keep the rainwater out and yet allow some draught to come in.

We kept the existing marble flooring and had the kitchen floor tiles replaced with new ones. From the photo above, can you see the pinkish stone flooring and a light grey tile (behind the privacy screen)?
The homeowners thought it would look "weird" as the new kitchen tiles juxtapose with the existing flooring. So what should we do?

A privacy screen! It faces the main entrance and acts as a divider between the entrance foyer and kitchen. Now it forms a "L" with the flooring.
