Reno@VistaSpring - The moving bar counter!

here's an interesting piece of furniture which was customed made - a moving bar counter. Yep. And it has to house a printer inside too. Hubs and Jules pushed it to one of the walls to make space for me to take photos of the living. But I ended up pushing it everywhere in the living and dining area to test its different configurations!
Here's how it looks when its tucked beside the tv console

That's Jules helping to move the bar counter

Here's how it looks when it's tuck against the brick wall and the sofa is supposedly to be hidden away behind this bar counter. This is the original intention where the hubs will sit here to work and watch telly at the same time.
here's how it looks with the doors open - storage area for printer
Jules checking out the tv console
And another way of looking at the bar counter when it's tuck beside the shoe cabinet.
I think the original position is the best, plus we have left a powerpoint there for the laptop and printer to be charged up. I guess the only reason for moving the bar counter is when the couple has loads of people in the flat where they will need to move the bar counter to the master room.

Although on second thoughts, it would be also very useful for the visitors to sit around and chit chat at the bar counter and watch telly at the same time. ok...i think i shall leave it for the couple to think how they want to use their space....

Reno@VistaSping - Kitchen works

The countertop has been installed, most of the electrical fittings have been installed on the same day when the carpenter was here to do the kitchen. Now we left the kitchen appliances to be hook up - oven, stove and hood.
Kitchen sink - leaving the kitchen tap to be installed.

Hood and stove to be installed.
Small LED lights under the shelf. pretty and small. does the trick.

compact BTO kitchen - stove on one side and sink on the opposite side of the kitchen.

Reno@VistaSpring - Master bedroom carpentry

Carpentry works at our Vista Spring BTO flat has finished! Both the boys are here to take a look before the contractor tidies and washes up the flat this week to hand over to the home owners. At our last visit, the carpenters were all busy doing their work and we didn't manage to take photos of the bed as it wasn't assembled yet. So today we can see how it looks now. It's finished in the same wood laminate as the wardrobe with a black horizontal band and bedside drawers.
Here's how the bedside drawers look inside - a shelf and a drawer! On the outside, there's no horizontal lines, just a plain surface. Smooth and easy to clean!

baby james checking out whether the bed is flat....
Under the bed, we have created storage compartments for more storage as the flats are getting smaller and the need for more storage space becomes more important for every young growing family. I guess these will come in pretty handy for bedsheets, quilt, extra pillows since the top shelf in the wardrobe is pretty hard to retrieve things unless you are like 1.9m tall.
LOVE these pull out drawers under the bed.
2 big drawers on both sides of the bed, that makes 4 big drawers!!!
A quick look at the master wardrobe, I shan't put up too many photos since the last time we have already seen how it looks on the outside. It's a short wardrobe with 5 sliding panels. Some open shelves on the inside for bags and t-shirts. Top and bottom rails for hanging clothes. A dedicated section for long dresses.
3 drawers for shorts, t-shirts and underwear with the top most drawer being the accessory drawer. Finished with a glass top for easy viewing. We have also added a powerpoint within the wardrobe to power up a hairdryer.

Reno@VistaSpring - Carpentry works in progress

hello!
We just got back from our holidays so pardon me for some overly dued reno progress updates. It's so overwhelming at home ever since our maid has gone home, there's so much cleaning up to do when we get back from work. Guess all parents know the routine - wash milk bottles, wash clothes and dry clothes and fold clothes, mop the floor, sweep, wash the dishes etc... and pack school bags!

back to home renos.
it's been quite awhile since I last updated on our reno progress at VistaSpring. well that's because the vinyl flooring was out of stock before the CNY and it took one month for the next arrival ie installation late march. So finally the vinyl flooring is laid and the carpentry can go up!
Pull out larder "basket-style" in the kitchen.
These are good for items which you want to see at a quick glance. And one pull will pull all the baskets out.
Away from the stove is another tall cabinet for storage. This one is just pull out drawers where you have to put out one drawer at a time.

tv console lying on the living room floor now.
vinyl flooring for the corridor

The bathroom carpentry took awhile to finished too because the basins were out of stock.

Master room wardrobe - barn door style. This is something which the couple was bold enough to try out. Usually we would have gone for the usual white panel doors but for this new home, the wardrobe becomes the eye-catching piece in the house!

stay tune for final photos.

Reno@VistaSpring - Brickwall done!

This week, the brick wall is up!!! And we have been pushing our contractor to quickly get an appointment for the vinyl flooring to come in to do the flooring. But it's really close to the Lunar New Year, so it seems like the whole world is rushing to get their renos done before the CNY.
close up on the brickwall after the grouting is completed.

All the loose wirings have been pulled in the house too, now waiting for the flooring before the carpentry can start next.
Aircon trunking done too. The FCU will be installed later, so it wouldn't get dusty for a long time.

Aircon trunking in the master bathroom, no choice have to cross over here to get to the aircon ledge. Think I need to talk to the contractor how to box this thing up.
See the brown and yellow wall in the master bathroom? We are going to overlay the bathroom wall with the new feature wall tiles. That way, the whole bathroom wouldn't look too jarring with so many colours.
me to Jules: ok darling...go and press the lift!
 and off he goes!!

catch up with me on our reno journey at CCK Maisonette and CCK2 Maisonette!

Reno@VistaSpring - Grouting the brickwall

Are you wondering why the bottom of the brick is so pronounced in black?? it's not the black grout lines, but it's empty!! haha...the laying of the brick is completed but it's not fully grouted in white yet. So the "black" parts are the empty gaps between the bricks which the tiler needs more tiles to grout one by one....after this then we need to wait for it to dry before we paint and seal it.

here's a closer look at the gaps between the bricks...
meanwhile, all the dry partition works are done up too, going to do a skim coat later

false ceiling completed in both bathrooms!

and our dear electrician had to hack quite a bit to realign all the ceiling wirings again.... seriously, it's not easy working ceiling stuff! debris gets into your eyes you know!!!

Did you know that Michelango painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling until he almost went blind because the paint kept falling into his eyes?

so truth be said, I think it's worth every penny paying your electrician to do the dirty work because seriously I haven't the faintest idea how to hold a drill and definitely not up against a ceiling!
