The specially design main gate - extra bars at the bottom to prevent the kitties from wandering out when they are not suppose to.
The Shoe cabinet is lifted off the floor to house the irobot that does all the cleaning of the kitty fur around the entire flat. Heard from the owner that it is doing a wonderful job!!!

Reno@Kim Keat - Final Photos (Master bedroom edition)

 Hello there!

I reckon quite a few of my faithful readers are just eagerly waiting for the final photos of our reno at Kim Keat. And here are some peektures of the beautiful master bedroom to share with everyone. As the room was in an odd little shape, not a perfect square or rectangle, we had to find a wall to anchor the bed and fabricated an integrated headboard and storage bed to go with it. The headboard has a long linear horizontal shelf to put books, alarm clock and powerpoints to charge mobiles before sleeping. And by the side, we have catered 2 bedside lamps which the owner has gotten the stylish artemide wall lamps to add more character to the bedhead.

here's a full frontal view of the bedhead and the symmetry of the 2 beautiful artemide lamps.

Side view to show the storage bed drawers under the mattress. Perfect for linen! So no space is wastage. The owner has chosen the loveliest wood grain that is very soothing and the colour makes it very comfortable to the eye. Perfect for a resting area.

Considering that we spent 8 hours out of our 24 hours sleeping, or one third of our lives sleeping, the bed area is definitely a very important part of the design for every single home.

The master room is just basking in natural daylight! Looks wonderfully bright in the day. This is how it really looks when we visited the room in the morning.

Pretty barn doors. Guess what is behind them?

One leads to a standing vanity dresser

And the other barn door leads to the master bath.
stay tuned for the kitchen photos!!!

Reno@Kim Keat

Hello!
we are here at Kim Keat again this week. Cos it's almost finishing...a few bits and pieces to tidy up. The place is still in a bit of a mess cos the carpenter is here to do some touching up. The owners are moving in next week. After National day...so we are all rushing for their BIG DAY!

above: wooden planks at the door entrance. laid with one layer of varnish. Waiting for it to dry completely and another layer of varnish will go on top! I think it looks really pretty! My contractor told me that this is one of the nicest flat he has done so far!!! *beams!*

wall to wall mirror cabinet in the common bathroom.

walk in wardrobe - completed with internal coloured PVC.

Open shelves for microwave and toaster.
Matching laminates with kitchen countertop!

hood. hob and built in oven all in!
haha. like i said. it's a bit of a mess here!!!

Reno@Kim Keat - Restore our lights!

restoration work
here's what we have been up to while we have some weekend mornings by ourselves. We help others to restore their old and rusty lights! Here are 3 "honeydew" sized pendent lamps which our Kim Keat couple has gotten us to restore for them. So about 2 months ago, hubs was tasked to unscrew them and give them a good wash.

washing the pendant globe lights

Unscrewing all the nuts and bolts. Jules is particularly interested in whatever hubs is doing.
I guess it's quite a good way to have some quality time with Jules since most of our weekends are spent visiting reno sites.

part 2

 2 weeks later.
we bought 2 tins of matt black spray and give all the gold metal parts a good paint job.

part 3
22.07.2014

3 days later.
bought 2 light bulbs from Home Fix.
And we fixed the light bulbs in and screw up the cap.
YAY!

it's done.

took us almost 2 months but hey. we don't have many weekends to idle around!
