Home@432B | Setting up my CNY decor

Saw something online and was so inspired to do something similar for the Lunar New Year. Paper wheels! It was done more as a backdrop for a birthday bash, but hey you can also do it for the new year too!

DIY paper wheels from construction paper, pattern colour paper (which i bought eons ago and didn't know where to put it to good use) and ang bow paper.

bought these super duper cute lion head cushion covers online!

entrance foyer console from Lims.

Home@432B | Putting Up Christmas Lights

ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO LIVE ORDINARY LIVES.
Hubs, my regular DIY guy in the house. Change lightbulbs, drill holes and even hanging twinkling lights is part of his daily job! It's always nice to have a handy man, gets all the little things done that might be difficult to find a contractor to do it. You know what i mean?
And look who is QC-ing the whole process? It's none other than my little one, lying on the deflated swing, on the floor, having a good time watching her daddy doing all the labour.

ta-dah!!

all the twinkling lights.
swee.

Home@Stirling - Artificial Terrarium - Velle's lazy plant

I remembered one of my client bought a terrarium and call it the "lazy man's plant" because you only need to spray water once a month. hah!
Guess what. This artificial terrarium is Velle's lazy plant!!! It totally needs no watering and caring at all. Don't even need to put it in a shady or with moderate daylight area. You can even store it in the wardrobe or cupboard when you get tired of it.

I was at Daiso Vivocity on Friday for dinner and I happened to chance upon these cute plastic animals which the shop was selling. Sharing is caring...so here are where I bought all my stuff to do an artificial terrarium.

bag full of pebbles - daiso
artifical cactus - daiso
animals - daiso
glass jar - ikea

my son Jules loves it to bits and insisted that this to be put next to his bed. crazy. I'm just going to place it above my cupboard....

Home@Stirling - New plants cactus and indoor plant

Marks & Spencer occasionally has sale on their delicious cookies. So i bought 3 different types (chocolate digestives, ginger snaps and almond butter) for $9.90 which i happily store them in my cookie jar and left it in our office for hubs to munch.

Saturday we went to ikea and got ourselves a cacti and indoor plant. Jules had brought back a jar of soil from kindy and we have left it on our table for the longest time. We decided that it was time to either - throw the damn jar away so that we have one less thing sitting idlying away on our table, or to carry out a terrarium project.

alas, we did the latter.

so now we have one more plant to look after, hopefully not kill.

Home@Stirling - Setting up a new space (i can't rem what day into the home reno this is already!)

FAMILY AREA convertable
Hubs and i bought 2 small tins of white paint and started painting the wall ourselves. We managed to finish this DIY of ours in an afternoon. It took us about 5 coats of paint to finally cover over the existing green wall. Initially we wanted our regular painter to do it for us, unfortunately he met with an accident and currently now being hospitalised. Doctor has already announced him brain dead. My contractor is quite distraught and so are we.... we decided that we should give our contractor a break and not to hound him for putting our home reno off for such a long time....plus this paint job is quite manageable for 2 of us.

Once the paint was dried, we shifted back our Kallax (without the cushion), installed our printer and put some of our usual catalogues on top of it.  Yup, we are now ready to DIY our study table!!!
In the late afternoon, we set up our study table (Oak countertop from IKEA, legs on wheels from IKEA too) and managed to drink our first cup of beer once we put the boys to sleep.

YAY!

DIY - Xmas Paper Bag gifts

Nowadays, many mothers go to the extreme of preparing gifts and goodie bags for their children at school. And I'm not trying to outdone any mothers out there especially those SAHM who has more time as compared to me, but every other week, when my son gets a goodie bag from his friends, it makes me feel guilty for not doing anything on his behalf.

so.
this Christmas, I've made some goodie bags on my own to give away to his friends in school.
Hope the children love the sweets.

DIY - Xmas brown paper goodie bag

Christmas is around the corner peeps!!
I'm starting to do up some Christmas goodie bags for the kids at school. And here's what I've come up with.

Things you will need:
1) brown paper bags which i bought from SKP
2) star stickers from Popular bookshop
3) green coloured paper from Daiso

Method:
1) I cut the green paper with the triangle lengths at 4cm.
2) fold the triangle into half
3) Gather 4 triangles which have been folded into halves and stick them together. And you have your tree!!!
4) stick tree onto paper bag, decorate with star sticker, draw the tree trunk with a brown marker.
5) And you HAVE YOUR VERY OWN XMAS goodie bag.

Home@Stirling - Halloween Props

Every year we try to do a gathering of some sorts at home. So this year, after James' 1st month baby shower which was held in March, we are finally having a PARTY!

well not really a party. but a barbeque with colleagues. And Halloween is coming!!! And I'm those peeps who loves a decorated theme party, just gives me a really good excuse to decorate my place again!!! I just love moving things around the house because I get so tired from seeing the same old thing for such a long time. And I'm really excited that after Halloween, Christmas will be here and I get to decorate my home AGAIN!!! wee!!!!

Here's some photos to share with my readers on what we are preparing for tomorrow's BBQ! not the food, but the Halloween props. hah!

DIY Bunting kept from last year's halloween.

Ghost lamps. Spider webs. Eye balls. Jack O lantern.

closer look at my cute ghost
DIY! Made it by myself and super easy. You just need 1 big plastic bag, majority in white colour, place it over your lamp, cut 1 pair of eyes and mouth from felt cloth and stick it onto the plastic bag!!!
my pumpkin decor from daiso, DIY printed bats and cut it myself. Quite an easy task.
DIY eyeballs. Super easy to make too. I crushed scrap paper into a ball, scotch taped them to keep the shape intact. Cut round shapes from my felt cloth and stuck them onto the scraped ball and voila, I have my "eyeballs"

Can't wait for my early celebrated Halloween BBQ tomorrow!!!
