Remember about the 2 horrible meter boxes i was talking about long time ago? While it's still there and not removable. It's really such a headache because it's placed so low and it's so ugly that Hubs really wants to have it boxed up.
So. Here are some reference photos which we thought " hey! low ceiling is still acceptable with the proper accentuation!"
Instead of hiding, use it as an advantage with value added decorations like plants and lighting.
With an ambient lighting reflecting upwards will make the low ceiling appear brighter and bigger. This illusion will make the space higher. Also with plants, it will soften the harsh box up too! SPRUCE up the place with some greens is definitely a plus for eyes!!!
And lastly, white paint will make the overall space bigger and higher.
It's all about illusion.
So here's the final product of our box up. Not bad i must say. Hubs and I totally agree that the false ceiling contractor has done his job pretty well!
