Stirling HDB Terrace - #51

hi from us.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #49 Bedhead

Ain't these cushions adorable?
I think these are a wonderful idea to a typical bedhead rest. Currently, my bed is like a pond bed, without any bedhead and i happened to chance upon a website that has creative solutions to beds like mine. And it's so innovative!!! With cushions like these, u can customise your cushion covers and create a montage that you love or match your interiors. JUST SO WONDERFUL! imagine the diversity!!!

Stirling HDB Terrace - #48 Kitchen Ideas

CORIAN white top kitchen counters?
here are some pictures which i'm looking at...island/breakfast counters with concealed hood. I really haven't decided whether to get a stainless steel or a white sink.
Or a mixture of oak and white kitchen cabinets, instead of an all white kitchen...gosh! how how how???

Stirling HDB Terrace - #46 Floor Lamp

OUR ARCO LAMP

The last time I was blogging about my little cozy corner where I have my little window for me to peer through and read my magazines + drink tea with orange biscuits and shortcakes...well this is the floor lamp that we have purchased last year, just after we paid our OTP (option to purchase).

One of our favourite pieces of furniture from FLOS , besides our Zanotta sofa.
The timeless Arco Lamp by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni perfectly encompasses both form and function. The polished Aluminum domed shade is beautifully balanced by a heavy marble base (note: this fixture weighs well over 100 pounds!).

White Carrara marble base with satin-finish stainless steel telescopic stem. Pressed, polished and zapon-varnished aluminum swiveling and height-adjustable reflector. Foot switch on power cord.

Just a little complaint, my marble piece is starting to colour/stain...sobsob. not as white as it used to be.

and now it's the time to find my daybed! I'm really interested in the Mies one! Or maybe I'll just beg my mum to give me her corbusier one. hiak hiak hiak. And of cos I need to find my coffee table next!!! And I'm really lovin' the saarinen tulip table. See how the above picture of the arco lamp beside a full fixed glass...sweet.

The funny wiring in our toilet which cannot be moved.

Went down to site during lunch again.

this was the wiring that i was referring to in the previous post.
It can't be moved at all. And we decided to have it plastered and do a ledge further down to put our toiletries.

*sigh*

the thing with old flats is that there are so many problems on site that can't be moved or removed.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #45 Site Measurements

On-site Measurements
The thing with construction is that it's never as accurate as what you have drawn in digital format. So once the walls are up, it's really a good practice to go down on site to check your final 'clear' width and height or depth or whatever, this is to really make sure that your furniture will be able to fit. Imagine if your contractor does it just 100mm smaller than required, and consequences are you can't put your bed or study table, unless u having it custom made.

That will be really a headache when all works are done. So before plastering, laying of tiles, it's good to measure your rooms.
YAY! and the workers have done a good job! Cos it' the correct measurement. Rem to give 25mm extra for the plastering on top of what you have measured. That will be the true clear width.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #42 More Updates

BUSY BUSY
lately, both of us have been really busy with work, so we didnt' have time to go down to our flat to take a look. Finally when we did went down during a lunch time hour and realised that our contractor has been doing so much!
The boundary wall between us and the neighbour has been erected, and the column has now been 'covered' with a wall now + a hole for my window. Will use this place for my browsing books cum peering out of window session. Can't wait to put my floor lamp plus get a daybed for this corner!!! I think it will be a really cozy place!!!

Plastered wall here for the toilet! So fast! One moment i saw the worker putting up the tile, the next moment, it's all fully plastered! However there were some issues with the extg electric wirings that we can't move and needs some concealment. We're going to put a big mirror on this wall here, to reflect and make the whole dining area bigger. Illusion of space!

last week saw the trench of the sewer pipe, this week, a new wall has been erected for the guest room. And the wall is being plastered as well!!!

okay, door frames have been put in as well. But it was an architrave one!!! Gosh, guess we were really too tied up, that we didn't specify what we had in mind. So told uncle Will to change for us, we really do not want too intricate door frames. Simple ones will be fine. Thank god he was nice, new frames were delivered the next day, without architrave.
plumber was in our flat too without us supervising. So when we got there, all the plumbing works are in place. Although, hmm, i haven't the faintest clue whether are they in the correct position or not. Uncle Will says when the sanitary fixtures come in , the piping works still have been slightly shifted or lengthened. I hope that is true man, cos another colleague of mine have been telling me the horror stories of toilets! that the contractor will always get it wrong!!!
And the staircase foundation is laid and waiting for the railings to be in! chop chop curry pok!

also just to double confirm the washer's final location so that the water pipes can be laid.

and this poster is on a YELLOW wall!!! hiak hiak...we have orange walls, yellow walls, green and blues! AMAZING right?

Stirling HDB Terrace - #40 Blossoming

pretty scent
Our previous owner had planted a jasmine tree just outside our place. And when we visited our place on friday, there wasn't any flowers there I swear. BUT. When we returned on saturday morning to check out our toilet wall sizes. I saw the pavement outside my flat filled with jasmine flowers. And it smelt pretty nice! I really enjoy having that plant around now. and many thanks to our previous owner too!!! ^_^
前人种树,后人乘凉

facts
The delicate jasmine flower opens only at night and may be plucked in the morning when the tiny petals are tightly closed, then stored in a cool place until night. The petals begin to open between six and eight in the evening, as the temperature lowers.

more comparisons here in the living cum dining cum kitchen area! New living style - OPEN concept. I know cliche. However, i think it most probably will work for us, since we don't reckon that we'll cook much at home in the future, and the dining area would eventually become a study cum surfing area where we can overlook the tv as master is too small to have a tv . YES! we are going to have only one tv and it's gg to be in the living! Anyway, i'm digressing here, what i'm trying to depict here, it the NEW wall in our living area. See! it 'hides' the ugly column! and that wall will be our toilet wall. To the right of our wall, that's going to be our kitchen area.

YAY! money plant removed here. Just some minor updates.

checking up on the worker, making sure that he is doing his job! But i must say, they work really slow!!!! Sheesh and they are like chimney pots! They smoke like every second!!! My flat will eventually smell like a club.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #38

BACK@STIRLING
we forgot to measure the width of the new toilet! So we are back at our flat again to measure it.
New steel columns and lintel is in placed for supporting the sagging roof. More measurements are needed here now... as more built works are in place, the plans are getting outdated really fast!

Cement is being laid here before our boundary wall goes up by Monday. Hopefully we'll see some progress over this week. It's so weird seeing our flat so 'open' to everyone. Really looking forward to some sturdy walls now. Also we have no where to put our mailbox so once the wall is up, most prob we'll leave it there for the time being. Right now, it's always lying on the ground and it has been raining quite frequently and most of our mails have been getting soggy.
more reinforcement bars on our steel column here. This is where the bricks are going to be attached to.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #41 POST IT!

yup. dear readers. we have orange walls!
scene: contractor pastes our sketches on the wall as constant reminder.
emotions: Thank god they read drawings.

Stirling HDB Terrace - #47 PLANs floating in my mind

SMALL SPACE BIG PLANS!

I've such BIG plans for this little niche of mine. REALLY.
I swear, many of my colleagues and parents included have told me to just seal it off and convert it into a storage space.

BUT im so reluctant to do so, cos i really want another corner just for myself to do my blogging. Yes, i know it sounds funny, but i really like my small spaces. And actually im quite petite in person. Although wj thinks little of this niche and he thinks i can't fit in. Currently measuring 800mm in width. An ikea wall hung table might not fit in...but if it really doesn't fit, i might just have it customised. Just a wall hung slab will do for my mac.

and then there's this worry that wj has that i might just roll off my chair as there is a step difference from the true ground level.

And why i really want this corner is for me to look down from the 'window' and down the stairs, where we are going to put a really nice feature down ceiling lamp, just for the double volume stairwell.

Here are some of the photos which i have in mind to convert that little space of mine. I'm still undecided whether should i have a white wall where i will do my own graffeti or a corkboard wall where i can stick my polariods and photos cos i really love taking photos. and keeping track of some precious moments. Basically i like noting things down. Then again, im spoiled for choice and really want to keep to wj's all white/black/ oak theme for the entire house. AND I'm so eyeing on a piece of eames chair!!!! I really want a white one!!!
